In 2007 and 2008 after over twenty years as a lawyer, general counsel, and operating manager in public and private companies I worked on my first distressed business failure and rebirth. Since then, I have worked on many public and private business, non-profit, and government agencies undergoing various degrees of crisis planning and crisis management.
Whether as a member of the board, chairman, or in management my role was to drive planning, see the warning signs of crisis, act to move the organization through crisis, shorten the acute phase of the crisis, and minimize a chronic phase where the organization becomes mired in a long descent hounded by activists, regulators, or the press.
There are numerous professionals that work in this space (law firms, communications, forensic accounting, bankers). While happy to start as a consulting arrangement, where Bounds Green is most effective is providing a temporary experienced director or member of management to work on crisis planning and management from the inside. Instead of working from the outside, this method provides an internal resource standing shoulder to shoulder with the teams facing crisis and its risk.
My operational experience turning around or disposing of a software business and a large UK manufacturing business augments my legal and board background. In hiring Bounds Green organizations gain not just a consultant or advisor, but an actor partnering to move the crisis as quickly as possible to recovery.
